Before creating a rental, it is important to understand two key concepts: the residence and the building. A residence is a property complex that may contain one or several buildings. A building is a physical structure (apartment block, house) that belongs to a residence. Every building must be attached to a residence.
For example, if you own a detached house, the residence and the building can have the same name. If you own an apartment block with several flats, the residence is the name of the whole complex and you create a building for that block.
Open the creation form
Sign in, then open My rentals: from the left menu, or from the top bar using the See all button. The page opens on the Rentals tab, which shows how many rentals you have created out of the number allowed by your plan.
Click the round (+) button at the bottom right of the screen to open the Create a new rental form.The (+) button of the Rentals tab (1) opens the creation form (2-3).
(+) button not visible?
It only appears if you still have rentals available in your plan and your subscription is up to date. To raise the limit, use Change plan (plan menu, top right) or contact an administrator: contact@my-smartlife.fr.
Fill in the form
Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required:
Name: Building *: the building you are creating (e.g. “Building A”, “Main house”).
Name: Residence *: the complex the building belongs to. For a detached house, use the same name.
Owner: prefilled with your account.
Country *, Currency * and City *: the currency is used for every amount of the rental (rent, charges, expenses).
Email * and Phone: landlord contact details shown on the contracts.
Project - Type: “Rental”, already selected.
Postcode, Address, Acquisition date, Start date.
Latitude and Longitude: position on the listings map (prefilled from the country, to be refined).
Description of the residence.
Publish in the directory: makes the rental visible in the property search.
Confirm: the rental appears in the Rentals tab and in the My rentals menu.
Create the units
Open the rental (See button on its card): you land on its dashboard. The next step is to create the units, i.e. the homes you rent out: Rentals > Units menu, Add a unit button.
